From the pen of Penny

Spring has sprung and there`s some warmth in the sun. The pruned roses have new leaves and I`m already reorganising the living spaces. That`s what a change of season can do!
I have a few quick tips for a mini makeover in preparation for spring.......
All on a budget by the way!
First you need to dust away the cobwebs, open the curtains and clean the windows. Let there be light- Now it`s time to decide on some new colours in the space?
- When the drapes are open, what is the light doing with your colour scheme?
- Time to find some fabric/new cushions and throws, maybe a rug
- Once you have thought about the colour scheme (and how it will connect to the rest of the house) it`s paint swatches at the hardware store
- You can do a feature wall or soak the whole space in a colour of your choice!
- Don`t forget the aspect of the room. If it`s on the south side you may need some warmth .... if it`s north facing you can use the blues and greens!
- If it`s all sounding a little too expensive...... use your nouse and scour the thrift shops/purchase sale items online/and paint, sew and create yourself!
- Do you have a past calender? Have you fallen in love with the pictures on it? Look for a frame and select colours from the pic for your paint and fabric!
- Plant some colour in the garden and create a lovely vista from your window
- Purchase some coloured candles to comliment your scheme, pop them in glass vases
After the cleanup and room sprucing, light the cndles, make a coffee, have a seat in your fave chair and admire your design skills and handiwork!
I`m looking forward to House About`s Spring event on Saturday 25th September. In the meantime, I may see you in store picking up some great buys for the Spring season.
..... `til next time,
Penny M
